Outcome of engineering selection
What you receive before ordering
A verified solution for the machine’s actual duty cycle, mechanics and control system, with more than a power rating to guide selection.
01
Load calculation
Continuous and peak torque, speed, inertia, acceleration and the required margin.
02
Platform selection
A reasoned choice of Festo or WECON based on dynamics, functions, risks and budget.
03
Complete specification
Drive, motor, power and encoder cables, brake and required options, with part numbers.
04
Integration plan
Power supply, PLC interface, wiring, initial checks and commissioning guidance.
Application data
What we need for accurate sizing
If some parameters are unknown, send a photo of the mechanism, the existing motor nameplate or a short description. We can clarify the missing data together.
01
Mechanism type
Screw or belt axis, gearbox, drum, rotary unit or direct drive.
02
Load
Mass, force, torque, direction of motion and any vertical movement.
03
Motion profile
Stroke, speed or travel time, acceleration, dwell periods and cycle count.
04
Power supply
Available voltage, number of phases, cabinet constraints and power margin.
05
Control
PLC model, Pulse+Dir or industrial network, number of axes and synchronization requirements.
06
Operating conditions
Temperature, dust, moisture, cable length, brake, mounting and duty cycle.
Two platforms, one engineering approach
Choose a solution for your application and budget
We compare more than price: dynamics, accuracy, interfaces, functional safety, commissioning effort and the cost of downtime all matter.
FESTO
Premium motion
For critical axes
Predictable integration for complex machines
A platform for projects that demand dynamics, diagnostics, industrial networks, safety functions and a coordinated component ecosystem.
When to choose it
Coordinated axes, fast cycles, costly downtime and complex integration.
Strength
Diagnostics, scalability and network interfaces, depending on the model.
Format
Drive, motor, cable and control configuration for the specific duty cycle.
WECON
Smart value motion
Cost-conscious choice
A servo axis with matched components
A practical solution for standard axes, new machines and retrofits when a clear bill of materials and controlled cost matter.
When to choose it
Standalone axes, feeders, gantries, retrofits and standard positioning tasks.
Strength
Practical interfaces and strong value for the available functions.
Format
A matched drive, motor, power and encoder cables in the required lengths.

A clear process
From mechanical data to a complete specification
Each step produces a clear result you can review before ordering.
01
Application data
Describe the mechanics and duty cycle
Record the load, stroke, speed, acceleration, duty cycle, PLC and power supply.
Result: application data for sizing.
02
Sizing
Check torque and inertia
Determine continuous and peak torque, speed, margin and thermal load over the duty cycle.
Result: a suitable drive range.
03
Configuration
Select Festo or WECON
Match the motor, drive, encoder, brake, PLC interface and cables.
Result: a specification with models and part numbers.
04
Implementation
Assemble the kit and support commissioning
Arrange the supply and provide guidance on wiring and initial settings.
Result: a matched system ready for integration.
Quick comparison
Festo or WECON: a starting point
Final selection follows a check of the mechanics and control system. This table helps identify a starting direction.
| Criterion | Festo | WECON |
|---|---|---|
| Typical applications | Critical, dynamic and coordinated machine axes | Standard standalone axes, feeding, positioning and retrofits |
| Control | Industrial networks, diagnostics and safety functions, depending on the model | Pulse + Direction or EtherCAT, depending on the series |
| Power supply | AC platforms depending on the series and power rating | 220 or 380 V, depending on the kit rating |
| Solution format | A project configuration for the duty cycle, control architecture and machine risks | A matched drive, motor and cable kit |
| Main focus | Predictable integration, diagnostics and scalability | Cost efficiency and practical kit contents |
FAQ
Servo drive selection FAQ
Still have questions? Send an engineer a short description, even if you do not yet have a complete specification.
When should I choose Festo or WECON?
Festo suits critical axes with complex integration and requirements for diagnostics, networking and safety. WECON suits standard axes and retrofits where practical functions and a controlled budget matter.
Are cables included in the kit?
Contents depend on the specific offer. We check the cables against the series, motor version and required length.
What if I do not know the torque or inertia?
Send the mechanism type, mass, stroke, speed or travel time. If possible, add a photo, drawing or the existing motor model.
Can you select a drive for a retrofit?
Yes. We check the existing mechanics, power supply, PLC, control method, mounting constraints and whether existing components can be reused.
Can I buy components separately?
Yes. Asfero offers motors, drives, cables and accessories separately. For a new axis, we recommend checking the configuration for compatibility first.
